PCI of Illinois and Wisconsin University Education Support

PCI National has a textbook program for those students studying precast concrete design at the college level, PCI will provide a CD version of the PCI Design Handbook or the Architectural Precast Manual. To obtain these books, please contact Amy Holliday

Classroom Lectures

Lectures are offered to both undergraduate and graduate classes for schools of engineering, architecture, and construction management. A list of topics, covered in a typical lecture, can be obtained by contacting Amy Holliday.

Precast Producer Plant Tours

PCI-IL & WI producer members often sponsor college students for plant tours. Students are offered the opportunity to see a plant during business hours in full operation. Students learn how precast concrete is manufactured, see the steps taken to ensure quality product, and gain a better understanding of how the product works within the design and construction process.

Student Memberships

PCI-IL & WI will sponsor students interested in membership in the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. Students must be in an accredited program and sponsored by a professor. Any reputable individual engaged or interested in the plant-produced precast and prestressed concrete industry as a producer, supplier of materials and/or services, architect, engineer, contractor, developer technician, educator or student, is eligible to apply for membership.

Big Beam Contest

PCI offers a competition for structural engineering students. The BIG BEAM contest is designed to allow teams from universities to work with local precast producers to design, build and test a long prestressed beam.  The shape of the cross section is up to you.  Learn more about the big beam contest here.

Student Internships

Opportunities for internship employment exist in many parts of the U.S. for students studying a variety of construction-related topics. The PCI Summer Intern Program seeks to link engineering and architecture students looking for summer employment with PCI producer plants, industry suppliers, consulting engineering firms and architecture firms.
